Casecut or Rotato: the device or the page?

Rotato is about the device: a phone or laptop turning in 3D with your screen on it. Casecut is about the page: the camera travels through your Figma design while a cursor presses its buttons.

When Rotato is the right tool

App Store previews, a product shot of a phone in 3D, a launch video where the device is the hero: Rotato does that well, and Casecut does not try to.

When the design is the point — a landing page, a dashboard, a site you made — Casecut shows it the way people meet it: scrolling, hovering, clicking.

How it works

  1. Install the plugin. It is free on Figma Community and works on any Figma plan.
  2. Tick a frame, press Animate. Every layer arrives on its own, with a clean background behind it. The editor opens in your browser.
  3. Let the AI director make the first cut. It studies the design, writes the storyboard, moves a real cursor and scores the sound.
  4. Change anything, then export. Edit on the timeline or tell the director in the chat. Export MP4 in 16:9, 4:5 and 9:16.

Questions

Does it work with mobile designs?

Yes. A frame up to 520 px wide is shown as a phone screen.

Does it show my hover states?

Yes. If a button or card has a hover state as a component variant in Figma, the video shows that exact state when the cursor reaches it. Sliders really slide and fixed headers stay in place.

Is Casecut free?

Yes. The free plan gives you 3 exports to try it, in 1080p with no watermark, with the AI director, sound and all three formats included. After that you can keep exporting for free with a small “Made with Casecut” mark in the corner. Pro adds 4K and 30 exports a month, Studio removes the limit. Or pay once: $1.50 a video, from 5 videos, with no subscription.

Which formats can I export?

MP4 in 16:9, 4:5 and 9:16. Each format gets its own camera, it is not a crop of the same shot. 1080p on the free plan, 4K on Pro and Studio.

Is there sound?

Yes. Soft clicks, whooshes and pops follow every move, with a calm ambient bed underneath. You can add a melody on a recorded instrument, such as piano, vibraphone, marimba or harp, or switch the sound off.
